I am a Meteorologist and a Photographer/Journalist specializing in the Geo-Sciences. Working in television news for 20 years, I have covered everything from mudslides, wild fires, floods, blizzards, sink holes, ice storms, and tornadoes. During 10 years in Florida, I covered 20 named tropical systems for WFTV in Orlando, including 14 hurricanes (Charley , Frances, Ivan, Jeanne, Dennis, Katrina, Ophelia, Rita, Wilma, Ernesto, Gustav, Ike, Ida, and Irene). I won a Sun Coast Regional Emmy Award with reporter Berndt Petersen for our coverage of the 2011 Tornado Super Outbreak in Alabama.

I was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and went to Manitou Springs High School. I received my Broadcasting degree from Mesa State College (now Colorado Mesa University)  in Grand Junction. Later I completed a second Bachelor degree in GeoSciences from Mississippi State University. I am also currently working towards my certification with the American Meteorological Society.

My wife Tiffany and I live in the Denver area with our 4 year old son Roman, 1 year old daughter Sydney, and our 2 dogs Maximus and Athena. When I'm not chasing down a storm, I like to mountain bike, hike 14ers, and snowboard. I'm a big sports fan, my favorite team is the KC Royals. If you cut me open, I actually bleed royal blue. I am also a huge fan of kraft beers, and science fiction.
